Our team was honored to participate in the 2023 Utility Expo—September 26-28, in Louisville, Kentucky—and were grateful for every conversation we had and connection we forged. The Utility Expo has unequivocally proven itself as a premier industry event. All of us in attendance from the Viatec team enjoyed interacting with an expansive array of partners, potential clients, and influential stakeholders from across the industry.

We wanted to take the opportunity to share some of the most insightful moments that we took away from the experience:

1. It’s All About Electrification 

The more time we spent at The Utility Expo, the more a narrative emerged, summed up in a single, resonant term: “electrification”—with sustainability taking center stage at every booth. As one of the select few fully electric ePTO solutions, our SmartPTO system showed up throughout the show, featured in several partner booths including Terex, Versalift International, Dakota Bodies, and Ring Power.

2. Launching Our SmartAPU at The Press Conference

By far the greatest highlight of our participation in the Utility Expo took place at the press conference, where we unveiled our SmartAPU. Ted Barron, Senior Sales Director at Viatec, and Neeraj Chirmulay, our Chief Technology Officer, were on hand to introduce the product, which offers auxiliary power and no-idle cab comfort for light-duty vocational vehicles. The launch of our SmartAPU marked a significant milestone in our commitment to providing innovative solutions for the industry.

3. Viatec Products on Display

One moment that really stood out to us was when we approached the main entrance and saw our flagship product, SmartPTO, showcased on a Terex TL-48, courtesy of Scott Powerline & Utility Equipment, directly in front of the entrance! We were excited to know that our product would be seen by each person entering the conference and to imagine the potential of establishing more partnerships like this one in the future. Our SmartPX system, a pioneering electric generator replacement, was also prominently featured at the Utilimaster booth, installed on a Duke Energy step van.

In Closing…

The Utility Expo has solidified itself as a premier event for engaging with thousands of peers from around the country and the world. The event offers opportunities to learn about new products and technologies and get expert insights into market trends. More importantly, it opens doors to networking opportunities and potential collaborations, which are key to the continued growth and success of our industry!
